Brutale Broderie was born by chance
when Pauline Malingrëy was thinking about an idea for a gift.
“It was for my brother and I had the inspiration to embroider a tee-shirt for him, my very first in fact, and bam... the Brutale adventure was underway…”
“Fortunate to have a Grandmother as a seamstress, a Mum who loves knitting, and an illustrator for a Dad,
I was surrounded by colour and creativity and this has stayed with me in my own creative process.”

I was surrounded by colour and creativity and this has stayed with me in my own creative process.”
Pauline’s story began on the fashion catwalks in Paris with an eventual move from the catwalk to backstage orchestrating fashion events for Maison Schiaparelli.
Pauline spent the next seven years working from her office overlooking Place Vendôme.
It’s in this setting, swarming with the ‘savoir-faire’
of the craftsmen and women in the world of fashion, that she honed her own skills.
“I was fascinated by their talent, seeing them playing with different materials, how they would transform the materials and how they would put their own individual stamp on their creations. Being a part of this world of creativity and craftsmanship led to a seed being planted….and bam… Brutale Broderie was born.”
